Market Pulse - Jan 09, 2013


FII & DII Data.
Foreign institutional investors ( FIIs) were net buyers of Rs 848.95 crore (provisional), while Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were net sellers of Rs 518.30 crore today.

FIIs made gross purchases of Rs 3,784.62 crore, gross sales totalled Rs 2,935.67 crore, while DIIs made gross purchases of Rs 1,111.15 crore, gross sales totalled Rs 1,629.45 crore.

FIIs were net buyers of Rs 898.10 crore on Tuesday, January 8, according to data released by Sebi today. While FIIs made gross purchases of Rs 3,175.10 crore, gross sales totalled Rs 2,276.90 crore.

Mutual funds ( MFs) were net sellers of Rs 263.60 crore on Tuesday. MFs made purchases of Rs 320.40 crore and sales of Rs 584 crore.

Markets ends negative.
Markets after volatile session ended in the negative zone after changing direction several times ahead of the result season. Sensex ended at 19,667 down by 76 points, while Nifty ended down by 30 points at 5,971.

Sectoral wise, broader markets fell in line with the benchmark indices as investors booked profits in large caps and bought select mid-cap and small-cap shares. Mid-cap was down by 0.5%, while Small-cap index was down by 0.5%. Realty index gained on renewed buying interest. Healthcare, Oil & Gas, PSU and bankex also went up around half a per cent each. FMCG index shed, dragging the benchmark index with it. ITC weighed on the Sensex and slipped 2%, HUL was also down by 1%.

Buying was witnessed in Reliance Industries along with Tata Motors after Credit Suisse and CLSA upgraded their ratings. Reliance ended unchanged, Tata Motors was up by 4%. Coal India was up by 1%, on reports of government has invited expression of interest to undertake restructuring. Bharti Airtel was up by 0.8%.

Among other shares, Bhushan Steel dipped by over 7%, after the company has announced a rights issue in the ratio of 1:15 at price of Rs 335 per share.

The overall market breadth was positive, from 3,101 stocks traded, 1,395 shares advancing while 1,575 shares declining.

Markets failed to hold early gains and ended on a negative note today as investors took profits ahead of quarterly results. Sensex ends (provisional) at 19,655 - down 87 points, while Nifty ends down 30 points at 5,972.

Markets trading almost flat.
Markets were volatile in late noon deals, paring morning gains. Sensex after touching a low of 19,722 recovered a bit, up by 9 points at 17,952, while Nifty down by 8 points at 5,993.

Sector wise, Mid-cap and Small-cap was up by 0.3% and 0.5%, amid buying in select Mid-cap and Small-cap stocks. Realty index gained on renewed buying interest. Healthcare, Oil & gas, PSU and Bankex were also up around half a per cent each.

Sectoral wise, Auto, Realty and Healthcare are gainers, while FMCG, Consumer Durables and Metal are drowning. Select Mid-cap and Small-cap stocks outperforming benchmark indices.

Gainers at this hours are, Reliance Industries up by 0.4%, Tata Motors spurting up by 4.4%, Coal India up by 1.9 %, Bharti Airtel up by 1.2%.

Index heavy-weights Reliance Industries along with Tata Motors is up by 0.4% and 4.4%, after Credit Suisse and CLSA upgraded their ratings. Coal India up by 1.9% on reports of government undertaking restructuring.

Looser at this hour are, ITC, TCS, HDFC, Tata Steel, BHEL and Bhushan Steel.

Bhushan Steel has dipping almost by 10%, after the company has announcing rights issue in the ratio of 1:15 at price of Rs 335 per share.

Overall market breadth is marginally positive with 1,432 stock gaining and 1,318 losing.

Markets continued to trade firm in late morning deals. Sensex gaining by 59 points to 19,801, while Nifty is up 12 points at 6,014.

Sector wise, Auto index spurted by 1.6%, Healthcare and Oil & Gas up by 4% each, while FMCG down by 0.3%. Mid-cap Index up by 0.65 per cent and Small-cap Index gaining by 0.47 per cent.

Gainers at this hour are, Bharti Airtel, GAIL, Mahindra & Mahindra and Cipla.
< br /> Looser are, Tata Steel down by 1.2%, HDFC and ITC down by 1% each. BHEL, Wipro and TCS are also in the red.

Markets consolidate gains.
Markets consolidate gains on hopes of policy easing by Bank of Japan to boost growth. Sensex gained by 46.30 points at 19,790.56, while Nifty rising by 9 points at 6,009.90.

Sector wise, Auto, Healthcare, Real-Estate, Metals, Technology, Power, IT led the gains except for FMCG, which drowned. Mid-caps and Small-caps indices raised by 0.4-0.5% respectively.

Gainers at this hour are, Tata Motor and Mahindra & Mahindra gaining 3.3% and 0.3% respectively, Cipla and Sun Pharma rising by 1%, Hindalco and Sterlite gaining by 0.5% and 0.2%, Infosys rising 0.6% and Reliance Industries up by 0.7%. Chemfab Alkalis soared 17% to Rs 89.95 after reporting over two-fold jump in net profit at Rs 6.86 crore for the third quarter ended December 2012 (Q3) on the back of higher sales.

Loosers at this hour are, ITC declining by 0.7%, Wipro down by 0.3%, HDFC dropping by 0.7%, while ICICI Bank declining by 0.03%.

Markets edges higher.
Markets edged higher after opening flat, amid tracking recovery in Asian markets. Sensex gained by 54 points at 19,797.56, while Nifty rose by 12 points at 6,013.15.

Sector wise, except FMCG, sector like Auto, Healthcare, Real-Estate, Consumer Durables, Metals, Technology, Power, IT led the gains. Mid-caps and Small-caps gaining by 0.3-0.4%.

Gainers stock are, Tata Motor up by 3.4%, Mahindra & Mahindra gaining by 0.23%, Cipla and Sun Pharma rising by 1%, Hindalco and Sterlite gaining by 0.8% and 0.5% respectively. Infosys up by 0.4% and Reliance Industries up by 0.6%.

Looser stock at this hour are, Wipro shedding by 0.8%, HDFC and HDFC Bank down by 0.6% and 0.2%, ICICI Bank down by 0.4%.

Markets opened positive.
Markets opened positive, shrugging off weak global cues. Sensex rose to 19,797, gaining about 55 points or 0.25% and the Nifty surged 10.20 points or 0.18% to 6011.90.

Automobile, power and oil stocks have edged higher, while bank, capital goods and FMCG stocks opened flat.
