Markets ended negative, ahead of January IIP data.
Markets ended lower after opening flat this morning, amid a range bound session throughout the day, as investors resumed to booking profits in index heavyweights ahead of the January IIP data which is to be released. Sensex closed down by 37.02 points or 0.19% at 19,646.21, after opening flat down by 3.35 points or 0.02% at 19,679.88 and touching a high of 19,754.66 and a low of 19,602.71, while Nifty ended down by 3.35 points or 0.06% at 5,942.35 after opening flat up by mere 0.40 points at 5,946.10 after striking a high of 5,971.20 and a low of 5,930.35 in the day.

Sector wise, Real-Estate surged up by 1.32% followed by indices Capital Goods up advanced by 0.59%, Healthcare gaining up by 0.53% and Power gained up by 0.52%, while Consumer Durables declined by 1.38%, IT down by 0.67%, Metal fell by 0.56%, Oil & Gas and Auto down by 0.45% each, Bank fell by 0.24%, PSU down by 0.14% and FMCG tad down by 0.10%. In broader market, both the indices closed positive. Mid-cap closed up by 0.22% and Small-cap ended up by 0.28%.

Major stock gainers were, Tata Power Limited surged up by 2.28%, HDFC advanced up by 1.91%, Sun Pharmaceuticals gaining up by 1.79%, Mahindra & Mahindra up by 1.10%, Gail (India) up by 0.97%, Larsen & Toubro gained up by 0.65%, NTPC up by 0.23%, Tata Steel Limited up by 0.20%, Hindustan Unilever up by 0.17% and State Bank of India tad up by 0.05%.

Major stock losers were, Hero Motocorp declined by 2.51%, Wipro Limited, Bajaj Auto, Jindal Steel & Power Limited and Tata Consultancy Services fell down between 2-1%, BHEL, Sterlite Industries, Reliance Industries Limited, Infosys, Tata Motors Limited, ICICI Bank and Maruti Suzuki declining by 1-0.50%, Hindalco Industries fell by 0.49%, ONGC down by 0.40%, Bharti Airtel fell by 0.32%, Dr. Reddeys Laboratories down by and ITC declined by 0.24% each, HDFC Bank fell by 0.23% while Coal India tad down by 0.02%.

Overall market breadth was negative with 1,474 shares declined compared to 1,395 shares advanced, while 134 shares remained unchanged.

Markets trading almost flat.
Markets have been trading almost flat. Sensex is down by 13.60 points or 0.07% at 19,669.63, while Nifty is marginally down by 1.35 points or 0.02% at 5,944.35.

Sector wise, Real-Estate index is up by 1%, Healthcare, Capital Goods, FMCG, Power and Oil & Gas, gaining between 0.80-0.10% respectively, while Consumer Durables declined by 0.97%, IT down by 0.87%, Bank, Auto, Metal and PSU all declining between 0.40-0.10% respectively. In broader markets, Mid-cap gained up by 0.19% and Small-cap advanced up by 0.23%.

Major stock movers were, Sun Pharmaceuticals and HDFC surged up by 2.29% and 2.06%, Tata Power, Hindustan Unilever and Gail (India) gaining between 2-1%, Tata Steel Limited, Mahindra & Mahindra, Sterlite Industries, Coal India Limited and Cipla Limited up between 0.50-1%, while Hero Motocorp, Bajaj Auto, Jindal Steel & Power Limited and Infosys declined between 2-1% each, Tata Consultancy Services, ICICI Bank, BHEL, Maruti Suzuki, HDFC Bank, Dr Reddeys Laboratories, ONGC, Wipro Limited, Bharti Airtel and Tata Motors Limited fell between 1-0.50% respectively.

Overall market breadth is weak with 1,338 shares declining compared to 1,291 shares gaining.

Markets opened flat.
Markets have opened flat but on a positive note tracking global cues. Sensex opened down by 3.35 points or 0.02% at 19,679.88, while Nifty opened flat up by 0.40 point at 5,946.10.
