Market Pulse - 26 Jun, 2013

Market Update
Market opened positive in the morning and traded almost flat throughout the session but ending the day weak, as Rupee touched an all time high of Rs. 60, hoisting fear of fii's outflow in near term. Sensex closed down by 77.03 points or 0.41% at 18,552.12 after opening marginally up by 33.22 points or 0.18% at 18,662.37 and touched a high of 18,690.50 and a low of 18,514.35 while Nifty closed down by 20.40 points or 0.36% at 5,588.70 after opening up by 18.85 points or 0.34% at 5,627.95 and touched a high of 5,635.25 and a low of 5,579.35 for the day.

Sectoral wise, IT index surged up by 2.06%, Power and FMCG indices gained by 0.84% and 0.59%, Auto, Metal, Capital Goods, Bankex, Consumer Durables and Healthcare indices dropped between 2%-1%, PSU fell by 0.42% while Realty and Oil & Gas declined marginally by 0.24% and 0.23%. In the Broader markets, Mid-cap and Small-cap indices ended in line with benchmark index, with Mid-cap dropped by 0.81% while Small-cap declined by 0.39% respectively.

Major index stock gainers were, Hero MotoCorp rose by 3.89%, TCS, Gail (India) and NTPC gained between 3%-2%, Wipro, ITC and Infisys advanced between 1%-0.50%, Maruti Suzuli and Hindustan Unilever inched up by 0.20% and 0.12% while  Sterlite Inds and BHEL almost flat up by 0.06% and 0.03%.

Major index stock losers were, Bharti Airtel dropped by 5.74%, Mahindra & Mahindra fell by 4.63%, Tata Motors declined by 3.02% Jindal Steel and Hindalco Industries down by 2.89% and 2.32%, Coal India, HDFC Bank and L&T declined between 2%-1%, HDFC, Sun Pharmaceuticals, ONGC, SBI, Tata Steel and ICICI Bank fell between 1%-0.50%, Dr Reddys Lab and Bajaj Auto down by 0.32% and 0.29% while RIL and Cipla down by 0.16% and 0.09%.

Overall market breadth was negative with 1,361 shares declined as compared to 952 shares advanced while 143 shares remained unchanged.
