Market Pulse 14 Oct 2013Markets closed marginally higher in a volatile trading session led by IT sectoral shares amid weak Rupee. The S&P BSE Sensex advanced up by 78.95 points or 0.38% to 20,607.54. It moved in the range of 20,645.94 and 20,497.88 in the intra-day. The CNX Nifty closed marginally higher up by 16.50 points or 0.27% at 6,112.70. It touched a high of 6,124.10 and a low of 6,082.90 in the intra-day trading session today.

Among the sectoral indices, IT index surged up by 2.32%. Bankex and Auto indices also gained up by 0.55% and 0.45%. Oil & Gas, PSU and Power which closed almost flat were other notable sectoral index gainers. Metal index and FMCG index slipped by 0.64% and 0.57% each. Capital Goods, Healthcare, Realty and Consumer Durables were other notable sectoral indices closing weak. In the broader markets, both the indices Mid-cap and Small-cap gaining up by 0.62% and 0.51% respectively.

Among the index gainer's, TCS spurted up by 4.27% followed by Wipro surging up by 2.58%. Infosys, Tata Motors, HDFC Bank and Hero MotoCorp also advanced up between 2-1%. Dr Reddys Lab, Coal India, Reliance Industries and SBI were some of the other gainer's on the list.

Among the index loser's, Hindalco Inds dropped by 3.15%. Tata Steel, Cipla, Gail (India), BHEL, Maruti Suzuki and Tata Power followed the trend slipping between 2-1% respectively. Hindustan Unilever, Mahindra & Mahindra, HDFC, ITC, L&T, Bharti Airtel and Jindal Steel were other notable loser's.

Overall market breadth was positive. Of 1,575 shares traded 1,291 shares advanced as compared to 1,130 shares declined while 154 shares remained unchanged.
